The Department of Public Enterprises, the Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) and the Plumbing Industry Registration Board (PIRB) will be hosting the last of a series of workshops on Training and Development for the Plumbing Industry (with a focus on solar installations).

We are hereby inviting all interested private and public training providers, Further Education and Training Colleges (FETs) and Employment and Skills Development Agencies to a workshop on preparedness for the training of Solar Water Heater (SWH) installers.
Training and skills for solar water heater installers form part of the plumbing trade. The following two qualifications will be discussed:
- National Certificate: Hot Water Installation – SAQA ID 65858 – NQF level 2
- Further Education and Training Certificate: Plumbing – SAQA ID 58782 – NQF level 4
These workshops are specifically targeted at training institutions and not at installers interested in receiving training. The workshops will focus on:
- Projects that the DPE are currently supporting to encourage the roll out of solar water heaters on residential properties
- Collaboration with the CETA
- The Plumbing Industry Registration Board (PIRB)
- Changes in plumbing industry
- New Qualifications
- Training Aids offered to assist training centres
- Industry assistance
