The Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Buti Manamela in partnership with the Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) hosted a career expo on Monday, 29 April 2019 at Waterberg TVET College in Mahwelereng.
The career expo attracted 2000 learners from various high schools around the area and the unemployed youth. The aim of the expo was to expose grade 12 learners and unemployed youth to opportunities available in the construction industry.
Learners received career advice from CETA, TVET Colleges and Universities and industry giants.
The learners had an opportunity to look and feel whilst interacting with industry simulations. This strategy from the CETA is to assist learners make informed career choices.
The Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training cautioned learners of lifestyle choices that may hinder their success. He further reiterated that there is no success to be found in drug, substance abuse and teenage pregnancy.
“Please ask as many questions as you like, grab the opportunities before you with both hands. Universities and TVET Colleges are here to provide you opportunities that our parents did not have” said Manamela
